Building Department Considerations

Permits
Robinson Township requires a permit to obtained prior to the construction of any structure, building, fence or any other activity that will affect the landscape of the Township. Contact your building department to make sure you have the appropriate permits in place before beginning any construction.
Inspections
Building inspections are performed on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays.Electrical inspections are performed on Tuesdays and Thursdays, Mechanical inspections are performed on any day except Friday. Plumbing inspections are performed on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays.
Zoning Department Considerations

Purpose
The Zoning Department serves to ensure the implementation and integrity of all Township ordinances. Uses or improvements on residential, business, industrial or recreational properties generally need review and approval by the zoning department. Prior to considering a new use or improvement on your property you should check with the zoning department to make sure you if you need review and approval.
Applications
Various applications require review by different boards and commissions of the Township. These applications are available in Building and Zoning Documents page of this website. Applications generally considered only by the Board of Trustees include, but are not necessarily limited to, Class A Earth Change applications, Grandfathered Special Use applications and Exception applications. Applications considered by the Planning Commission and that receive ultimate approval by the Board of Trustees include, but are not necessarily limited to, Class B Earth Change applications, Map and Text Amendment applications, Special Use applications, Site Plan Review applications and Planned Unit Development applications. Applications considered by the Zoning Board of Appeals include dimensional and use variance applications (collectively referred to as the Zoning Board of Appeals application.) The application schedule for these boards and commission are below.
Board of Trustees
As the legislative body of the Township composed of five members, which include a Supervisor, Clerk, Treasurer and two Trustees, the Board of Trustees ultimately create policies of the Township and generally are the only body that consider the following applications.
Applications: Class A Earth Change ° Grandfathered Special Use ° Exception
Should you desire to submit an application that requires initial review by the Board of Trustees, the meeting frequency and submission schedule are as follows: Meetings are held the third (3rd) Monday of each month. Submission of application is necessary at least four (4) weeks prior to the meeting at which you desire it to be considered. Please contact the Township Hall to verify all meeting dates as they are subject to change.
Planning Commission
As the advisory body to the Board of Trustees and composed of nine members, which include a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary/Treasurer and six Commissioners, the Planning Commission serves as the review and advisory board, which provides recommendations to the Board of Trustees regarding various Township initiatives and the consideration of the following applications.
Applications: Class B Earth Change ° Map and Text Amendment ° Special Use ° Site Plan Review ° Planned Unit Development

Submission of application is necessary at least four (4) weeks prior to the meeting at which you desire it to be considered. Please contact the Township Hall to verify all meeting dates as they are subject to change.
Zoning Board of Appeals
As the judiciary body of the Township composed of five members, which include a Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary and two members, the Zoning Board of Appeals serve to consider the following applications, which are sought when appealing an administrative decision. Their decision is final and can not be considered by any other board or commission of the Township.
Applications: Dimensional and Use Variance
Should you desire to submit an application that requires review by the Zoning Board of Appeals, the meeting frequency and submission schedule are as follows: Meetings are held the third (3rd) Thursday of each month. Submission of application is necessary at least 20 days prior to the meeting at which you desire it to be considered.
